LOVE YOUR CREW OR DIE ALONE

i'm a lucky guy to have talented motivated friends! i'd like to share a few zines that i've collected over the last few weeks. if you haven't heard or checked out any of these artists, you really really should. it's too bad that some of these zines are sold out already, but these artists are definitely keeping busy. so keep up with them and anticipate the next release from all these friends of mine.

"get ready, jungle heat." by steak mtn. an amazing full color riso printed zine. pages and pages of illustrations from steak mtn's solo exhibition at the beach london gallery. super stoked to have a copy of this! steak is a huge inspiration on me. and this zine is so beautifully done.

"good luck/shit luck" by adam vass. huge pages, huge drawings, huge talent. adam does "sailor style tattoo" drawings that keep on progressing. it would make sense since this dude is always on tour with his band la dispute. i'll hopefully do a zine with this dude one day! even though this zine is sold out, adam has plenty of other art available in his online store.

"flat earth in june" by saves of the a love token collective. amazing photography in this zine. also beautifully printed. you can tell he spent a lot of time and possibly money to make this zine look as good as it does. these photos tell the story of saves everyday life. i can describe this zine with one word: passion. it's still available in the alt shop for a cool $4.

"fear kills living" by jamie florance III. this zine is fucking tight! photos of people just having a really good time, and you can tell. it's got partying, nudes, cats and jamie and his crew just chillin hard. the photos were taken all over the place. from south korea, to hawaii, to california. it's a good zine to get wasted and look at carefully. still available in his shop for $5! definitely check it out!

"the last chance kids" by pacolli. this zine has everything, photos, art, graffiti, collages. you gotta stare at every page for a few minutes just to take it all in. definitely one of the top zines i've received this year. this was pro printed full color by the volcom artist series and is still available over at the fecal face store.

"the beauty of self destruction" by william galindo. the title of this book says it all. plenty of photos of the lifestyle and kids of orange county. never knew of the artist before i picked this up, and only checked it out solely based on the title of the book alone, and i'm very glad i did. full color photos that document the oc scene extremely well. check it out and pick one up for yourself over at lulu.com.

"i think we're alone now" by dimitri karakostas & sonia d'argenzio. part 1 of a 5-part series they're calling "sometimes i think of you everyday". dimitri is for sure one of my favorite photographers. his portfolio dimitrikarakostas.com is something i look at every single day. he inspires me to try new things with a camera. sonia is dimitri's girl who is an amazing photographer as well. she prides herself on the "anti-photograph". her new zine "sometimes i dream in colour when the devil's left my head" is a perfect representation of what she's about. this duo together makes for my favorite zine of the year so far. checked it out at the blood of the young internet black market.

framed print from dimitri karakostas.

framed "red skull" print by artist ben sears. ben is a phenomenal artist based out of lousiville. he combines his drawings with graphic design in such a new way. great dude, lucky to have such an awesome print on my wall. he's got more of them available in his online store!
